Those participating in the event—MWC Barcelona—will be required to show a negative COVID-19 result and repeat the test every 72 hours, Bloomberg reported. Rapid testing centers will be located on site at the Fira Gran Via venue, and attendees will have access to a new contact-tracing mobile app, real-time occupancy monitoring, improved air conditioning and an expanded on-site medical staff.
GSMA has an Atlanta-based affiliate that is registered as a 501(c)(6).
The show was canceled last year, but in 2019 attracted 109,000 attendees from 198 countries.
"We believe that we can have around 45,000 to 50,000 attendees, as of today," GSMA Chief Marketing Officer Stephanie Lynch-Habib told Bloomberg on March 8. "About 80% of our top 100 clients committed to a three-year participation when we canceled last year," she said.
The 2019 MWC Barcelona event attracted 109,000 attendees from 198 countries.
Lynch-Habib told Bloomberg that 17,000 people attended the GSMA's MWC Shanghai event in February and there were no confirmed cases of COVID-19 on site.
